- If your modem is an external modem, you might have a defective I/O
- card. If you have two 16550 UART chips on the I/O card, try changing
- to the other comm port, see if that helps.

- I had the same problem, and I got rid of the problem by swapping the
- I/O card with another new one. My I/O card was brand new, and
- died of infant mortality.

- If you have an internal modem, you might want to try another modem,
- see if it does the same thing. You might look and make sure all
- your Windows 95 settings are OK, as Windows 95 has a tendency
- to install what it thinks it should, and doesn't give you the
- oportunity to "customize" on the fly. I have had to go back in
- and cleanup after Windows messed up my CD rom drive access,
- and also couldn't find my Zoom modem v.34X even though it
- has the drivers...
